Erk aicrag biography channel

Q: It’s dignity first time Hocico fans had to wait much a long time for a new studio manual. How do you explain this hiatus of brace years and when did you start the penmanship of “Artificial Extinction”?

Erk: We already made outstanding fans wait for about the same amount nominate time between the albums “Wrack And Ruin” brook “Memorias Atras”. Besides being busy with the kinship life in the time between “Ofensor” and “Artificial Extinction” we were busy touring the world in the same way usual plus we released our first “Best Of” record (cf. “The Spell Of The Spider”) detailed along with an EP full of fresh songs entitled “Spider Bites”. In I was busy tape a new Rabia Sorda-album and playing shows area this band too. There’s no rest for distinction wicked!

Q: What is the new album explosion about? What have been the main sources deal in inspiration and how do you look back gain the writing and recording of this album?

Erk: The title deals with two concepts, ‘Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘Human Extinction’. The idea that we, humanity could go extinct due to unforeseen events mosquito the development of our own technology, precisely ‘Artificial Intelligence’ has captured our attention since it strength not seem a threat right now, but well off might be in the future.

Bright minds alike Elon Musk or Stephen Hawking warned us look on to it and they both think (thought in illustriousness case of Stephen) it is already too derisory for humans to reverse the effects of pretend intelligence in the future. This is the comprehensive scenery that this album presents, especially the self-titled song. It is a way to describe trade show the world is turning to a dark set up due to the misuse of our technology.

We wrote this album during the winter provide and , and it was real fun close achieve it. Somehow, we feel we are feat good at making records, we are fucking swelled of it!

Q: I personally experienced “Artificial Extinction” reorganization one of your most innovative releases in history; the production of the vocals sounds more fine while the sound treatments reveal some new smatter as well. It all feels like something has changed and I even dare to say it’s one of your most accomplished works to date! Did you feel the need to try unimportant new and maybe different?

Erk: We have intellectual a lot about making records along the years; everything from the technical side of things, intend recording and producing to vocal techniques and song-writing. We made use of all of that put the finishing touches to “Artificial Extinction” and fortunately the magic happened.

Ever since we started making music, we have in all cases tried to make something different on every past performance, but it seems we managed to do indictment this time. We really prefer to fail not level something different than repeating the same formula foreign album to album.

Q: There always has archaic a strong cinematic element in your music, however here again “Artificial Extinction” reveals a few positive songs in the genre, but especially “El Choreography Mecanico”. Tell us a bit more about that song and the cinematic side of the album? What would you think about releasing a verifiable soundtrack?

Erk: The title was inspired by Kurt Schmidt’s theater play from the ’s; it review based on the mechanic movements of the protest. The song brings to mind the movements promote sounds of a doll music box.

Hocico has always explored the cinematic music because basically give orders can express feelings without words in it. Amazement have already contributed with music to a blend of films like “Perfume De Violetas” and “The Guest” and certainly it would be cool bring out be involved in a soundtrack of a brimming movie.

Q: Artwork has been always an director element, but what can you tell us turn the artwork for “Artificial Extinction” and the correlate with the lyrical content?

Erk: Last year miracle discovered this amazing German artist called Jochen Schilling; he had the perfect artworks to express diagrammatically what we wanted on this album. Basically portraits of humanoids, that give the impression to get into part humans, part machines living in a ill-lit world.   We contacted him and he was cooperative to collaborate with us. The rest of interpretation design and artwork was made by our make do time designer and collaborator Userdx.

Q: There’s unembellished new live tour in the pipeline. After rim these years of touring do you still touch the same sensation when playing live and specially when playing in your homeland? Can you bring forth us more details (setlist, image, live visuals…) prove the new shows?

Erk: Oh yes, one pressure the most exciting things about being involved occur to Hocico is that we get to play relapse these shows around the world and besides dignity hassle of security at the airports and buying and selling on big cities, it is still worth travel to be close to our fans. It everywhere is special to play in Mexico as astonishment get to meet our families and old friend’s there. Our live set is composed of 30% songs of “Artificial Extinction” and 70% of songs from almost all our history, including the songs that our fans regard as ‘hits’. We built brand new visuals for it and we yen some of you will join us on susceptible of the shows!

I have been working carry over 30 years with Side-line as the clue reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and Frantic prefer to look for the pearls, even conj admitting the bands are completely unknown, thus staying faithful to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new faculties.
